Tiffany Box Cake

Since the Redskins won last week when I baked a cake, I thought I would try it again this week. I love baking and decorating cakes but sometimes I need extra motivation to do it and I can think of no better reason than to do it for the Redskins. Ideally I would like to try to bake a cake every week for the next several months. I think I could really improve my skills that way. And if the Skins keep winning each week, that will be all the more incentive. (yes, I know I just jinxed us big time!)
I have a list of cakes that I really want to try to decorate and the Tiffany Box cake has been at the top of that list for a while. Considering how quickly I did this one I think it didn't turn out half bad-- but I wish I had spent just a little more time on it to get the details right. This was my first square cake and I definitely struggled getting the corners smooth but I learned a lot and that is what it is all about. The cake is chocolate fudge with buttercream filling.

First Post, First Cake

Well, my first cake to be posted here anyway. I have finally decided to start adding my cakes to my blog. This one is in honor of the big Skins - Cowboys game today. The cake is lemon with raspberry filling, covered and decorated in buttercream.
